kampot Tourism Port is due to Open in June

KAMPOT: Kampot Tourism Port has completed 93.41% of the construction work and is scheduled to be fully completed on 30 June 2022, which will be an important international tourist port for tourists who travel via the sea especially tourists that come to Cambodia from Thailand and Vietnam.

While inspecting the progress of the construction of the international tourist port in Kampot province on 29 March 2022, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Sun Chanthol said that the project on building the tourist port that is located in Teuk Chhou district is built on 4-hectare site, 4.5 meters deep, 300 meters long and capable of carrying 300 to 400 passengers.

The construction project is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) of nearly 10 million US dollars.

The port is an important international sea port for connecting tourists to the southern islands and connecting Kampot province of Cambodia to the world. Through this port, it will further promote the development of tourism and related sectors in Kampot province, Bokor mountain resort and Cambodia's coastal destinations.

In addition, the port has contributed to the development of tourism in Kampot, creating job opportunities, increasing income and improving people's livelihoods. The port is also part of a project to develop tourism infrastructure for sustainable growth in the Greater Mekong Sub region.
